Is the musical suitable for children?

The musical is designed for secondary school students to perform, however it does have a number of children's roles and a Kids Chorus which can be performed by primary school children.

As far as rating the content goes, Parental Guidance is recommended as there are some emotional death scenes like the lead-up to the hanging of the convicted murdered Fagan and Mary's excommunication.

Is the musical for Christians only?

The musical was written to be historically accurate, so the religious tone and beliefs reflect those of the Catholic Church in the 19th century. It also explores how Mary gained much of the strength to continue her demanding work by drawing on her faith.

The musical also paints a picture of life in Australia in general at that time (including a strong migrant theme) and is therefore readily accessible to anyone who has a general interest in the history of Australia and its people.

Is there comedy?

Although the musical has an overall dramatic and emotional tone, there are a number of comic and lighter-hearted moments.
